1.   Given the available media that we now have in the world, what are its roles
     and functions in a democratic society?
     →     The media that we have now gives us freedom to share information or
          opinions, and we can also gain knowledge from it. In this freedom there is a
          responsibility connected to it. As a democratic society we use this media to
          know the state of different people and we can use that make the society better.

2.   In what way does media affect your life (personal, professional, academic,
social, others)?
     →      It has a big effect for me because we get all the things from media like
          communication, information, leisure, and many more. For example, the news,
          I can look at current events more easily, that will make me an aware citizen.
          Next is the internet, my father is an OFW, and because of this platforms I can
          connect with him in a faster way. All in all, media affects my life because it
          makes it easier.

“LANGUAGE IS A SOURCE OF MISUNDERSTANDING” – McLuhan,1964 Language is a form of communication that connects people but sometimes we have different interpretations of a particular message. Also there are language barriers like dialects, noise, and culture. We have ways to use our own language that’s why it can result to misunderstanding. Does the user’s/audience’s own background or experience affect the interpretation of messages? How? We use our schema or the prior knowledge to interpret messages that we received. We have a different experience that results to our beliefs and virtues that we use to understand and decode a message.
