    In your opinion, what makes an individual literate in media and information?
   →   For me, an individual who can create, access, and understand the media and
          information effectively with a good intention. He/she should use the
          different platforms responsibly that includes the ability of identifying
          credible sources and produce critical opinions.

    What activities/habits do you practice which illustrate media and information
    literacy? Give at least three examples.
   →   As a student I use the said platforms for my researches and assignments, I
          always look for credible sources. Also, I don’t plagiarize the works of other
          people; I read and write my own understanding of the contexts.

   →   My dad is an OFW so I use media to communicate with him and also to my
          friends. My literacy is that I know how to use different apps for specific
          purposes like messenger for messages and skype for video calling.

   →   For me, this platform is also for sharing my thoughts and opinions in the
          internet world or particularly at twitter, facebook, and instagram. In this I can
          tell my friends and followers what I feel about a certain issue or describe my
          life itself. But, I always have limitations of what I can share and I observe the
          words I use so I can create a constructive criticism.

“LANGUAGE IS A SOURCE OF MISUNDERSTANDING” – McLuhan,1964 Language is a form of communication that connects people but sometimes we have different interpretations of a particular message. Also there are language barriers like dialects, noise, and culture. We have ways to use our own language that’s why it can result to misunderstanding. Does the user’s/audience’s own background or experience affect the interpretation of messages? How? We use our schema or the prior knowledge to interpret messages that we received. We have a different experience that results to our beliefs and virtues that we use to understand and decode a message.
