1) Identify the different
information about Manila Science High School.
o
The
Manila Science High School (MSHS or MaSci for brevity) is the pilot science
high school of the country. Patterned after the Bronx Science High School in
New York, USA, MSHS was founded in 1963 with the graduation of the first
Special Science Class spearheaded by Principal Augusto Alzona, regarded as the
"Father of Manila Science High School."
Through
the years, the school has produced graduates that have gone on to become
leaders, influencers, decision makers and role models in their respective
fields.
The
tradition of excellence that has become synonymous to Manila Science High
School continues to this day.
(Retrieved
from http://www.manilascience.edu.ph/about)
2) What are the possible sources
of this information?
o
The
most possible source is the internet with the use of search engines like Google;
in this we can search anything we need to have the information. I have found
the official website of the Manila Science High School which I think the data
comes from the authorities of the school. This must be based from the history
of the MaSci and the people who have known or work at the institution for a
long time.
ESSAY
a) How do people find information
that matches my needs?
→
Most
sources conduct researches to find the information they need and we are the one
who looks at it to match our needs with the help of search engines like Google
and Yahoo, but some run surveys to ask people what they need to know.
b) How do I choose from the wide variety
of information made available by different sources?
→
One
of my ways is to find common information from several sources, and then I will
use and understand it. Second way is choosing the most credible and reliable
reference, and then focus on that site. Also when looking for information, we
should use our prior knowledge to serve as a basis if the information given is
cogent.
INDIGENOUS
SOURCES (VIDEO INTERVIEW)
MARION NAVARRO (SSG-VP) (B &
G SOCIAL STUDIES DEPT. HEAD)
Q1: What is your role in the school community?
Ate Marion: So my role in the school community is that I’m
an SSG Vice President and right now official ako for boys and girls so na
assign ako as department head for social studies.
(What
are the types of Information that you are responsible for and the information
that you receive and pass on to the school community?)
dumadaan sa inyo like contes. For example Up, La Salle na gusto nila iinvite
yung school mine message nila yung SSG page na like gusto po namin kayong
iinvite ganito po yung info and so type of information din yun. Another one is
yung mga organization like Manila Youth Act Now and yung other organizations
for education and kunyari types of disaster yung information na galing sa
organization samin dumadaan yun so kami yung nag di disseminate sa student body
Other
than that mas nagfofocus din kami sa information like school based information kunyari
And so those are the types of information na
gumagalaw sa ssg.
Ramon Montierro: How is the type of information that you handle
helpful to the school community? In what ways does passing on this information
help the school community?
Ate Marion: Okay, so isa sa major roles ng SSG talaga is to
disseminate information and pass information to students so helpful siya in the
school community kasi for example mayroong important agenda yung administration
and they don’t have time to disseminate information anymore to students so role
ng SSG yun na makarating yung information sa kanila and of course kung hindi
makakarating yung information sa students so walang mangyayari walang progress
dun sa activity na yun so it’s very
important na mapasa yung information na napupunta samin papunta sa students and in that way nakakatulong kami
sa continuous na growth and progress ng school and students na rin.
Julia Limos: How do you know that the information you pass on
is true?
Ate Marion: Ahh okay, so bago kami mag announce or mag pass
ng any information may rules kami dun or may regulations first kailangan ay
Insigne, Sir Bea, Ma’am Pascual, Ma’am Fuentes and Sir Cruz and Sir Baldoz. Sila
kasi nasa office sila eh admininistration sila another one uhm pwede lang ma
eto po yung sinabi nila ito yung information etc. and the third one is dapat kailangan yung information
iba. So kailangang mag karoon ng consensus kung ano talaga yung totoo dun and
ang may final say dun siyempre is si Ma’am Nacion. So kung ano yung sasabihin niya automatic yun
yung ipopost namin ganun kami mag verify ng information.
Alyssa Llanto: Last question po, Are these pieces of
information available in popular media?
Ate Marion: So siyempre one of the major roles nga ng SSG is
to disseminate information so kami yung naglalagay sa social media ng information
na galing sa admin sa organization etc. Tapos kapag dumating samin yung info
that’s raw info pa lang pwede sabihin in verbatim or letter yung dumarating
bulletin board or what so meron kaming twitter account and facebook page na dun
namin nilalagay lahat ng information and as much as possible shineshare namin siya
and sini spread sa students and meron rin silang batch groups yung mga batch
reps so dun sila nag popost ng information
so yun yung mga social media or popular social medium na ginagamit
namin.
Ramon Montierro: THANK YOU ATE!!!
